Homework Policy
Homework
According to the culmination requirements and curriculum of the Los Angeles Unified School District, homework is a necessary part of each student's educational program. Class homework schedules are a part of each class syllabus that students receive from their teachers at the beginning of the school year (or semester). General time guidelines for homework are as follows:
- Grade 6 = 15 minutes for each academic class daily
- Grades 7-8 = 20 minutes for each academic class daily
Homework for Absentees
Assignments and classwork are generally posted in Schoology. Requests for homework for absentees should be directed to the Counseling/Magnet Office. Students must be absent for a minimum of three consecutive school days before a homework request can be made. Upon your request, every effort will be made to have it available for pick-up the following school day, after dismissal. For short-term absences, students may use the teacher’s email http://holmesms.org or contact a friend in each class to obtain assignments. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to first check Schoology.
